Cross Pollination
Cross Pollination
Imagine our earth as a living, breathing entity - an immense, supreme being who sustains all living things. We depend upon her life-source, along with the generous warmth and light of the sun. We are part of this immense and yet fragile ecosystem.
This series of paintings was created to exemplify our valuable connection to the earth, especially in the midst of rapidly changing times.
She is our closest companion. We come from her, and we return to her when our physical life is over. Ultimately, she reveals her currant condition in the face of global warming and extreme climate change, as freak storms, engulfing floods, devastating drought and wild fires make their way into everyday news.
Native Americans refer to her as our "First Mother" or "Great Mother". They remind us that human beings are the caretakers of this planet. This is primal awareness and love at its deepest. It is an intuitive connection that validates what it means to be human.
I have great hope for humanity - that we will rise to the occasion and be the "caretakers", healing and balancing what we have already created on earth.
